English country house fresh - A superb and large Georgian huffer in its original finish c. 1780-1820 from an English country house. The huffer has very large iron handles to the side and would have been wheeled on its castors in front of the large kitchen fire to warm the plates. Measuring five feet wide by five feet tall. A similar example in oak grain paint can be found at National Trust property Charlecote Park, Warwickshire. The interior is lined with tin.
Huffer cupboards are often much smaller and with rounded sides - this very large style is much less common and they don't come to the market very often.
Provenance: From a country house in Berkshire
Measuring: 60" x 61" x 19.5" (152cm x 155 x 50cm)
